*NOTE WARRANTY DISCLAIMER:

The image intensifier must be used in dark conditions. Do NOT operate the product in daylight. Avoid operation with high output point sources of illumination in the viewing field such as streetlights, auto headlamps etc. Do not use the system to view the moon at any phase. Avoid viewing bright planets. A bright, high contrast object, viewed in a stationary position for extended periods may cause a permanent blemish on the tube voiding the warranty. The BIPH is designed for low brightness astronomical objects such as globular clusters, star fields, galaxies and nebulae. The new image intensifier tube's 2 year warranty is subject to evaluation by ITT Night Vision. The 100% clean used tube's 1 year warranty is subject to evaluation by Night Vision Astronomy's night vision tube supplier. Tubes that have been damaged by misuse as described herein will void the warranty. Avoiding bright light sources prolongs the tube life. The tube will not be damaged by brief exposure to bright sources such as an aircraft with landing lights illuminated flying across the field of view. Prices and specifications subject to change without notice.

Customers interested in a system from the third production run are asked to confirm their intent to purchase a system at this time by sending a 50% deposit.

  • 50% Deposits for 100% clean used Military Spec tube system are $1,649.50
  • 50% Deposits for a New Tube system are $1,997.50

Based on the production time required for the first production run, I estimate about 3-4 months from the time of deposit to delivery. When the systems are assembled, tested, and ready for delivery, we ask customers to send in the second half of their payment.

Please confirm your intention to purchase either a new or 100% clean used tube, both of which perform to our standards.

  • 100% clean used Military Spec tube system: $3,299.
  • New tube system: $3,995.

The Cloudy Nights Review by Tom Trusock utilized a system with the lesser expensive option.  Both tubes will perform the same.  The less expensive option is a limited supply only and will be subject to availability if you do not participate in the initial production run.

Here are the highlights to consider when choosing between the two options:

New Tube:

A new tube would only have about 13 to 35 hours of burn in time done to find early failing tubes. This is done by ITT Engineering at the factory and tubes are shipped once they pass testing.

New Tubes will conform to military specifications. Those specs do allow for the presence of small dark spots in speficic zones within the field of view. We can not guarantee a new tube will be 100% clean but the size and location of the dark spots conform to military specifications. The zones (location) of any dark spot are identified as zone 1 - center of the field of view, zone 2 is between the center of the FOV and the outside edge of the FOV, and zone 3 which is the outside zone that covers the edge of the FOV. Military Specs allow for one dark spot that measures 0.006" - 0.009" in zone 2 and one the same size in zone 3. Military specs also allow for 2 dark spots that measure 0.003" - 0.006 in zone 2 and two in zone 3. They are only visible in ambient light and are very small but they can grow larger over time if the system is used in a high light level environment. The new tube also offers a 2 year warranty.

100% Clean Used Tube:

This tube could have as few as 25 hours or as much as 1000 hours and has a 1 year warranty. We hand select these tubes based on extensive testing.

These tubes are tested by our engineers to locate and measure the presence of any dark spots. They are measured down to 0.001" and we only purhchase the tubes which are 100% clean of dark spots. There are no dark spots on these tubes.

The image intensifying tubes have a 10,000 hour life. If you viewed for 3 hours a night for 3 nights a week, every week of the year, it would take 21 years to use up 10,000 hours.
